During Holy Week, we had the incredible blessing of hosting the University of Illinois Chicago’s first-ever Eucharistic Procession. Immediately following Daily Mass, over 200 people—including students, priests, seminarians, religious sisters, and community members—joined us in processing through campus with the Blessed Sacrament, offering a powerful and public witness to our faith.

As we walked past academic buildings and student spaces, the presence of Christ in the Eucharist drew attention. Many paused to watch, and several approached with questions. Our evangelization team walked alongside the procession, helping to answer those questions, explain the meaning of the Eucharist, and invite others to join in.

Even more inspiring is that this procession was initiated and led by students. From the original idea to the logistics and promotion, their leadership and love for Christ were evident at every step. They volunteered their time, invited their peers, and helped bring the Blessed Sacrament to campus.

“It was beautiful. It felt like we broke the Newman bubble and shared God’s love with everyone at UIC—we were showing who we are, that we’re Catholic, to the whole campus and not just within Newman.” – Conrad (Senior at UIC)

We’re so proud of our students’ bold witness and grateful for the many ways the Holy Spirit is moving at UIC!
